Home Fittings We carry a variety of fittings that will solve any of your misting needs.The heavy duty brass and stainless compression fittings are used in our stainless steel applications. The are dual ferrule fittings designed to compress on hard tubing and hold without leaking even with our 1000 psi pumps. It requires 2 wrenches to secure the ferrule to the tubing. Please pressure test the tubing when you are finished to check for leaks. If there is a leaky fitting, add a little more torque to the fitting for security and that will stop the leak.Our brass fittings have an attached sleeve in the nut. These fittings work excellent for the copper and nylon tubing.The push lock style of fittings makes nylon misting jobs quick and easy. Use a pvc cutter or the mini tube cutter (65186) to make a clean straight cut in the nylon tubing and simply push the tubing into the fitting for a tight secure fit.The copper sweat fittings are great for those who know how to solder. The most common approach for installing a mist system line is to surround the area to be cooled making sure the nozzles are properly placed so that they provide maximum cooling capability and avoid spraying on any existing obstructions. Since most mist systems are installed after the structure is built, the mist line has to be installed on the exterior of the structure. In some cases the mist nozzles can be pointed down and into the area but this can lead to fall out from the misting system and moisture on surrounding tables, chairs, or the ground. Care should be taken to ensure that when the misting line is pointed into an area with restricted airflow, that the mounting height, the mist nozzle spacing, and the direction of the mist nozzle spray allow for complete evaporation of the mist to ensure maximum cooling without over wetting. A safer placement of the mist line is on the outer side of the perimeter wall. This usually eliminates the possibility of excessive moisture in the patio BUT it also means some of the cooling capability of the mist system will be outside the patio area. Relying on the advice regarding the inside or outside placement of the mist system line from a qualified and experienced contractor is recommended. Whenever possible, it is preferred to install the misting system line during the construction of the facility so that the line can be embedded into the wall. This provides a completely hidden mist line and makes for a completely integrated and more aesthetic installation. Fogco has developed a specific mist line to allow for proper installation of a mist line behind the stucco finish. It utilizes prefabricated copper tubing with a specialty escustcheon fitting so that the nozzles can be recessed into the walls of the structure. An image of the prefabricated tubing with the specialty fitting can be found here. The part numbers are 93644 and 93655. This specialty escutcheon fitting, called FogDeck fitting, was originally designed to provide a recessed nozzle placement for a mist line being installed around the perimeter of a pool. This installation design completely removes the mist line and the mist nozzles from view. An image of the finished look for a residential patio installation can be seen at the bottom of the Downloads pageThis method of mounting a misting line behind stucco is becoming a common approach for newly constructed residences. It can also be used in commercial or industrial applications and adheres to municipal plumbing codes in all 50 states. It is also important to note that whenever a mist line is placed in the interior or a structure, it is CRITICAL that the line contains no mechanical connections. That means compression fittings should never be used. According to all municipal plumbing codes, if a line is going to be placed inside a wall, it must be a permanent connection. For flexible tubing, that means a permanent crimp fitting. For stainless steel, that means a welded connection. For copper, that means a soldered connection. Beware of companies that utilize compression fittings on mist lines that are placed inside walls or other structures. It is not proper building code and will eventually lead to leaks in the misting line costly repairs to the structure.
